Who is WSET Level 3 for?
WSET Level 3 is designed for serious wine enthusiasts and wine professionals who want to develop advanced theoretical and tasting knowledge. WSET Level 2 or an equivalent level of wine knowledge is strongly recommended before starting Level 3.

Are you ready for WSET Level 3?
WSET Level 3 is an advanced qualification and requires a solid foundation of wine knowledge. Take our short readiness test to check whether your current knowledge is at the right level before enrolling.
QUALIFICATION
Assessment & qualification
The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines is assessed through a theory examination and a blind tasting examination.
Unit 1 – Theory: a two-hour closed-book examination consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions and four short written-answer questions worth 25 marks each. A minimum mark of 55% is required in both parts to pass Unit 1.
Unit 2 – Tasting: a 30-minute blind tasting examination of two still wines. You will be assessed on your ability to accurately describe the wines and draw conclusions about their quality and readiness for drinking. A combined mark of at least 55% across the two wines is required to pass Unit 2.
Final grades: Pass (55–64%), Pass with Merit (65–79%), or Pass with Distinction (80% or above, with no individual examination paper below 65%).
Successful candidates receive an official WSET digital certificate accompanied by a digital badge, providing secure, verifiable proof of the qualification that can be shared online and on professional profiles such as LinkedIn.
