🍇Grape Variety : Grenache/Garnacha🍇

Grenache grape variety is widely planted in the south of France 🇫🇷 up to Châteauneuf du Pape, it is also one of the most planted all around the world.
It was discovered in Spain 🇪🇸 between 1300 and 1500, when Sardinia belonged to the kingdom of Aragon.

🌱Of the 240.000ha planted in the world, 100.000 ha are in France, 77.000 ha in Spain, and the rest being widely scattered. Grenache (or Garnacha in Spanish) owes its popularity to its robustness and productivity, its vigor allowing it to resist the most terrible drought. When yields are carefully controlled, Grenache makes wines of great finesse.

The variety exists in three colors, red, rosé and white, but the red remains the most famous. Brought to France by the pilgrims of Santiago de Compostela in the 17th century, it is above all the grape variety of the sun.

🍷Because of its oxidative character, it is often blended with other grape varieties such as syrah or mourvèdre.
