Monastrell, is a wine grape variety of Spanish origin 🇪🇸 It is the main blue grape variety in the wine regions of Jumilla, Yecla, Almansa and Alicante in Spain with a thick skin and juicy flesh, high sugar and tannin content, sufficient acidity and high yield. The grape can withstand high temperatures, bad winter weather and develops best in calcareous soils.
The fleshy and herbaceous aromas of Monastrell are very characteristic. It loves hot and dry climates and has small berries with a thick skin, a classic combination for the production of wines with intense color and high tannins.
