Cafayate is a wine-growing region in the northwest of Argentina🇦🇷, located in the widest valley of Calchaqui: one of the highest places in the world suitable for wine-growing.
Known for its Torrontes and Malbec, the Calchaqui Valley surrounds Cafayate and has some of the most spectacular scenery in Argentina.🏞
Cafayate is located at 1700m above the sea level.
-
Altitude means that the sunlight received by Cafayate is more intense than in lower regions☀️, causing the grapes to develop thicker skins as protection against solar radiation.
-
The Cafayate terroir is particularly well suited to the Torrontes Riojana grape variety🍇, which produces floral, crisp white wines with an astonishing depth of flavor. Full-bodied and richly structured wines made from Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon are also produced in Cafayate.🍷
