WINE LEGEND: M. Chapoutier Le Pavillon Ermitage 2005

“A heavenly wine” – Robert Parker

Robert Parker called the 2005 Ermitage Le Pavillon his favorite wine of the 2005s from M.Chapoutier.

Maison M. Chapoutier, one of the most recognizable estates in the Rhône Valley, produces wines from a range of appellations in northern and southern Rhône and is well known for its red and white Hermitage wines made from Syrah. The vineyards are all managed to produce biodynamic wines. A further characteristic of M.Chapoutier is a preference for single-variety wines, also from those appellations where blends are common.

Ermitage Le Pavillon wines are made from 100% Syrah, which are hand-harvested from 100-years old vines, and matured in oak casks between18 and 20 months.

The 2005 Ermitage Le Pavillon is a truly excellent wine, with an awesome full-bodied power and richness. It will start to impress you by its deep garnet red colour with purple lights. Then on the nose, you will enjoy the bouquet of raspberry, blackberry, walnut and liquorice. On the palate, it is velvety and balanced, full of liquorice, tobacco, cocoa flavours, with the long, zesty finish filled with wild berry. You will definitely love it.
