WINE LEGEND: Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon 1991

Far Niente Winery was established in Napa Valley, California, in 1885 by John Benson. Today, the winery focuses on producing only the two varietal wines – Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. They have been growing and making Cabernet Sauvignon for nearly four decades, starting with the first Cabernet vintage in 1982. Their extensive experience has led to their mastery of Cabernet winemaking and established their reputation for producing distinctive and timeless wines that are found in the finest cellars around the world.

Estate Bottled Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville is the estate’s highest expression of Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s grown primarily in the Martin Stelling Vineyard, which is located behind the winery in Oakville. Planted on some of the most beautiful, gravelly loam soil in the Napa Valley, the vineyard uniformly produces wines with supple tannins, bright, forward fruit, and beautiful tannin structure.

The 1991 Far Niente Estate Bottled Cabernet Sauvignon is supple and elegant wine with a depth. The fruit expression flows from the glass! Very concentrated aromas of black cherry, plum and huckleberry deepen to black currant, spice, tobacco and dusty, toasted oak. The wine’s soft entry on the palate leads to notes of licorice and black fruit, a dense mid palate and a rich and coating texture, followed by a long and velvety finish.
