WINE LEGEND: Castello di Ama l’Apparita 1996

“The cult Merlot from Tuscany”

The Castello di Ama l’Apparita 1996 is a red wine from Tuscany produced by Castello di Ama with the best Merlot grapes of the vintage.

Castello di Ama is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico area. It is one of the most highly regarded producers in the region, and has gained numerous awards. The estate was named Winery of the Year in 2005 by the Wine Guide Gambero Rosso.

L’Apparita is the first wine 100% Merlot produced in Tuscany. It is a cult wine since its first release in 1985. The small parcels forming the single vineyard L’Apparita extend on an area of about 4 hectares and located on top of Bellavista Vineyard. The soil particularly rich with clay there, making this small Cru a jewel of the international wine production.

The Castello di Ama l’Apparita 1996 has a deep ruby colour and a nose of a typical concentrated Merlot with ripe plum, vanilla and brown sugar aromas. Loads of black berries, dried fruit, tobacco and smoke come through on the smooth palate. An exceptional full-bodied wine with an elegant texture, chewy tannins and a long, fruity finish.
