Course description

The WSET Level 2 in Wine is an intermediate qualification suitable for students wishing to learn about a broad range of wine styles as well as for those seeking to consolidate the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 in Wines.

The course is organized over 6 classes of 3 hours plus an extra day for the exam. The exam consists of 50 Multiple Choice Questions to be answered within 60 minutes. The minimum passing mark is 55%. Mark of between 55% and 69% is a "Pass"; mark of between 70% and 84% is a "Pass with Merit"; mark of 85% and above is a "Pass with Distinction".

Throughout the six lessons of three hours you’ll study the environmental influences and grape-growing options in the vineyard and how these will impact the style and quality of wine. You'll understand how winemaking and bottle ageing influence the style and quality of wine. You will explore and learn the principal and regionally important white and black grape varieties of the world. We will explore the most important wine regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce.

Our experienced educators will also teach you how to accurately recognize and describe these wines. In every session there will be at least six wines to taste. The wines will range in quality from acceptable to outstanding.

All wines that we use in our classes are officially approved by the WSET as a benchmark examples for the grape variety and/or region they represent.

What should I expect to learn?
- The characteristics of the international grape varieties and several regionally important grape varieties of the world, the different styles of wine they produce, and how to recognise them by the label.
