Hidden Gem: Son Mayol Grand Vin 2017

Are you a Bordeaux Fine Wine Lover eager to discover new “wine horizons”? Meet the 2017 Grand Vin of Bodega Son Mayol ! A brand new project initiated in partnership with Patrick Léon (previous Technical Director at Chateau Mouton-Rothschild/Opus One/Almaviva and Chateau d’Esclans).

Son Mayol Grand Vin 2017

This is a wine which remains very Bordeaux connected through the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon (85%) and Merlot (15%) as well as the people expertise, but with a sophisticated exotic influence coming from Mallorca island! The Terroir: Mallorca, Balearic Island in the Mediterranean Sea.

A rigorous selection of the best plots from the 35 rocky mountain micro-terroirs and the most powerful grape, Cabernet Sauvignon, combined with Merlot, make the Grand Vin a classic complex and smooth fine wine that can be kept for many years with continual improvement. Benefiting from gravity and slow, controlled fermentation in wooden tanks, this wine remains under its skin and seeds for 1 month to obtain the best tannins. Malolactic fermentation then takes places in new barrels, followed by 14 months of ageing in used barrels. Elegance & longevity are the keywords!

The search of the perfect wine is the beginning of this very niche estate, which makes only 4000 bottles! Are you gonna get yours? Reply in comments :
