FINE WINE: Bolle di Borro Classic Method Rosè

In 1993, Ferruccio Ferragamo alongside his son Salvatore Ferragamo (AD of Il Borro) and daughter Vittoria Ferragamo (director of organic production and special projects) expanded his love of finer things to winemaking by buying a 1,700-acre property that includes a medieval village, in the heart of Tuscany: Il Borro.

The Il Borro wine production is based on the best local autochthonous grapes, such as Sangiovese, in addition to excellent grape varieties central to the Tuscan wine tradition, including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, which today coexist by adapting brilliantly to the region’s soil varieties. The quality of wine stems from its grapes, and ours grow at the base of Monte Pratomagno, where the sandstone bedrock lies beneath a loam-rich soil with a sandy-clay matrix – the perfect mix for optimal wine production.   

Bolle di Borro Classic Method Rosè 2013 is one of the wines exclusively selected for an e-tasting of Il Borro Wines. It is a Classic Method Rosé from 100% Sangiovese, 60 month lees-fermented.

To produce this wine the company chose a specific Sangiovese vineyard because of its cool location. Strong day-night temperature variations and slow maturation bound to assure the wine fresh aromas and balanced acidity.

The nose is rich of crunchy bread crusts fruit, reminiscent of the sour freshness of Sangiovese. In the mouth it has this creamy texture, enveloping silky with a juicy sour note typical of Sangiovese.
