WINE LEGEND: Percarlo 2015 by Fattoria San Giusto a Rentennano

“Fattoria San Giusto A Rentennano is one of the true jewels of Chianti Classico and Percarlo is their greatest achievement.” – Geoff Pattison

The 2015 vintage has produced a number of legendary wines in Tuscany and the Percarlo 2015 by Fattoria San Giusto A Rentennano is one of the most gorgeous examples of that year.

Fattoria San Giusto a Rentennano is a famous Tuscan wine estate known for both Chianti Classico and high-quality, single-variety IGT wines. The winery is owned and run by the Martini di Cigala family in the village of Gaiole. The soil is composed of layers of sand, stones and clay. The vineyards are situated at an average altitude of 270 meters above sea level. Each vintage of Percarlo possesses constant characteristics which give it a precise, recognizable identity.

Percarlo wine is made from 100% estate grown Sangiovese grapes, selected from their best vineyard parcels. The grapes are usually matured to an extra degree of ripeness. Percarlo is aged in French oak barrels for 20-22 months and kept in bottled for another 18 months before being released. It is a wine with long ageing potential, a robust expression of the San Giusto a Rentennano terroir.

The Percarlo 2015 is one of the greatest pure expressions of Sangiovese in the world. It is a supremely powerful wine with beautifully polished texture and incredible depth. In the glass it has multi layers of red and black fruit, some leather and earthy notes. Black cherry, lavender, spice and smoke on the palate. The finish is endless with some super oak spice.

“With a 98-point score from Italy expert Antonio Galloni of Vinous, this is a compelling buy for any collector of Italy’s greatest reds.” – Geoff Pattison
